This quick assessment allows me to verify student understanding of the concept of superposition. Throughout the presentation, there are several opportunities for the students to Think-Pair-Share answers to the embedded questions. If you make up seven boxes for seven lab groups, you'll need seven dollars in pennies. Students will be examining a number models of different layers of the earth.

Discuss with the students different ways in which scientists can put dates on things, such as tree rings, then begin going through the powerpoint. The geologic time scale lesson includes a PowerPoint with activities scattered throughout to keep the students engaged. Don't see the need for quiet seatwork when we could be doing something more lasting, like a game or lab or powerpoint or other more active activity. Once all groups data is on the table, you can calculate the average for each run and determine a class average. During each trial, students record the number of radioactive parent isotopes and record this in a data table.

Know and explain science information specified for their grade level. This is a worksheet covering concepts from our textbook. Have the other students guess which Era is being dramatized.
